Changes I'd Make To Goodreads

Social media and books actually go very well together. Facebook has it's book groups (where I find lots of books to read and review). Instagram has bookstagram. Twitter has booktwt. Then there is Goodreads, the social media specially for readers. Goodreads it a platform I love, but there are a few changes I would make.

Can't leave groups you no longer want to follow

Also why can't you leave groups after you join? Don't get me wrong, I love groups on Goodreads.  I just don't want to be in the role playing games group anymore. And nobody talks in any of the groups I do want to be part of. 

I want to post a comment about a book

Without having to write a book review. I write my book reviews on this blog. I write reviews on Goodreads only if I receive an ARC and they specifically request that I leave a review on Goodreads. But, I'd love to leave a comment about my books so my friends know that I enjoyed or hated a book.

Amazon links should actually find books

Every single time I click on a link, Amazon can't find the book.  I don't know if this is an Amazon problem or a Goodreads problem, but it is definitely a problem for me. I have even have stopped putting books on my to read list and started deleting books from my to read list. What is the point if it won't work?

Never books I like for the giveaways

Some good, smutty, contemporary romance would be wonderful. I've found romance, but it is not the type to have very spicy scenes in it. I want to see some Regency romance as well. Something with steamy action. 

Have a percentage bar on books still reading

I want people to know how far I got in a book so far, or in case of books I quit reading I want them to see how far I got before I gave up. So, I want this feature to extend to any books I have not finished.

Secret Babies For My Best Friend's Dad by K.C. Crowne

Maybe I started this book because the plot was a lot like a Sofia T. Summers book I once enjoyed. It was like reading a favorite for the first time. There were just enough differences between the two. Most notably the other was a Dad's best friend novel and this one is a best friend's Dad romance.

Noah runs into Sadie at a masquerade ball they both attended. Sadie recognizes him but keeps her identity a secret so she can enjoy one night with him. When she ends up pregnant with twins she keeps the paternity a secret from everyone. But, who ends up delivering the twins, but Noah? A flash of a tattoo later and Noah realizes he is a Dad. Then comes the hard part, telling everyone what happened. 

Sadie's best friend's reaction was pretty standard, and totally understandable. Noah's reaction was priceless. I was so happy that he stepped up right away. He offered to help but, ends up falling in love later.

Bossy Single Dad by Crystal Monroe

At first it was sitting on my Kindle, waiting to be read. Then Kindle Unlimited spazed out on me, I lost it. Then I found it again and put it back on my Kindle. And there it sat until I decided to read it today.

Weston is a single Dad to a little girl obsessed with Ballet. He seeks to hire Ellie as a private instructor. Ellie found out she couldn't have kids and her fiance left her because of it. Deciding to make a pact that they have sexy times without falling in love. Only they do start to fall in love. And, then Ellie finds out she isn't infertile after all. But, Weston has said repeatedly that he never wants another child.

I was in tears towards the end of this book. Ellie was so terrified to tell Weston she was pregnant. Weston tore through town to get to her and tell her he loved her.

Make Me Yours by Melanie Harlow

This is a brother's best friend and a single Dad romance. I have had it sitting on my Kindle for awhile. I'm pleased to announce that I've now read a book that doesn't involve pregnancy. Although the sexy single Dad element is there.

Cole and Cheyenne have lived next door to each other almost their entire lives. Cheyenne is close to Cole's daughter as well. One night a tipsy Cheyenne texts a secret fantasy to Cole and he replies in a surprising way. Next thing you know they are building a life together. But, Cole has demons from losing his wife in childbirth. Demons he must confront if he is to prove his love to Cheyenne. 

I liked that Cheyenne's brother was cool with Cole loving his sister. Don't get me wrong, I love brother's best friend drama. Sometimes it's nice to read a book where the brother doesn't go ape over the relationship.

Best Books On Frugal Living

Almost as much as I love reading, I love being frugal. Except for buying books, I'm not exactly frugal there, priorities. Maybe it's because I grew up poor, maybe it's because I still am poor. Maybe, I just like to save money. Books about frugal living are a total win for me.

City Chic by Nina Willdorf 

I bought this book when I lived in the county and it was good. I moved to the city and it was even better. If you are trying to be frugal you will want to read this book. If you are trying to be frugal in the city, then you need this book. Yesterday. 

Living The Savvy Life by Melissa Tosetti and Kevin Gibbons 

A lot of reviews of this book were not very complimentary. I loved it! She has tons of tips on how to be frugal while still living an indulgent life. I really liked her tips on building a wardrobe. I wish she would have mentioned Goodwill as a way to build your wardrobe without spending too much, but not every book can be perfect.

The Money Saving Mom's Budget by Crystal Paine

I read her blog Money Saving Mom for years before I bought this book. If you want to coupon this is the lady for you. The book gives a basic overview, but the blog goes into way more details. Got me couponing for a while. Need to do that again.

Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey 

I was gifted this when I was young and it really helped me budget and pay cash for everything, I later went into debt because I couldn't afford not to, but I still try to follow this book. I wish I still owned it. It is a religious author, and he does sprinkle his beliefs throughout the book (don't really know what God has to do with finances, but okay). 

Give Me More by Sara Cate

When I read the book before this, the taboo story pulled me in. This book was not out yet, but the synopsis blew me away. It is a MMF romance so if that isn't your thing this book isn't for you. It wasn't for me for years, but I read one and it was so steamy!

Hunter and Drake have been best friends since childhood. And Drake has been in love with Hunter, but Hunter is straight. One day Hunter decides he wants to watch Drake and Isabel together. Soon he isn't just watching, he is participating and then thing progress between Hunter and Drake as well. But, Hunter isn't ready to face the fact that is is bisexuality.

This book is not quite erotica, but it is taboo, and it is steamy! More vulgar wording is used in the moment than more romance. There is most definitely a true storyline to it.

Boss's Fake Fiancée by Lisa Ryan

Billionaire boss, fake relationship, and accidental pregnancy. I'm sure you can see why I just had to read it. I found this book while researching for a book list. 

Owain is Raven's boss. After telling his parents he was engaged to a "Ray" and "Rachel" falling through, Owain strikes a deal with Raven. Be his fake fiancé over a destination wedding for his brother and he will seriously take her ideas and promote here. But, then their feelings get involved and there is even more to complicate things.

Owning knows his heart pretty early on in this novel, but he is afraid to reveal his feelings.  It made it all the sweeter when he layer it all on the line.

Daddy Crush by A. Anders

This was not a Kindle Unlimited book.  I had to buy it. It wasn't much, and it's worth the purchase. In case you get the wrong idea here, this is not an age play novel. Nor is it a pregnancy novel. It is an age gap romance. And she just calls him "Daddy" to be sexy. 

Jerusha is next door neighbors with Karl. After a terrible first kiss she asks Karl to show her how it's really done and next thing you know they are engaging in lessons on "lovin.'" One night, in the throws of passion, Jerusha let's slip that she loves Karl. It freaks him out and it takes a long talk with his daughter to realize he loves Jerusha too. But, it might be too late.

Jerusha grew up in a very similar fashion to the way I grew up. I didn't make it to 25 a virgin, like her, but I understood where she came from. I also had to play catch up with movies and music once I got out on my own.

This is the first book I've read with a non-binary character. It wasn't a main character and the writer never came out and said they were non-binary. The writer instead just referred to this character as "they/them" from the start. Took me awhile to catch on.

I didn't like that Karl was reluctant to promise forever even when he told her he loved her. He kept making comments about "however long this lasts" I was really put off by those comments.

Best Of Sofia T. Summers

One of my favorite authors is Sofia T. Summers. Although in real life I find age gap romance creepy (probably because I was involved in one that turned out really bad). When Sofia T. Summers writes about it, I find it sexy. She always adds accidental pregnancies to her books. After reading so many of her books, I definitely have favorites. 

Pregnant With My Roommate's Dad

I got this book completely free a couple weeks ago when Kindle Unlimited cut me off before payment was due. I scrambled to find books to read that I would like. But, because of the technical difficulties I didn't feel like reviewing this book on the blog. 

The Vegas Accident 

Probably my favorite so far. I had to wait for this one to come out and the wait was so hard! I liked that this was a brother's best friend novel and the age difference was 15 years.

The Grump Girl Friday

I love the Grumpy boss trope. This one was no exception. I love this BWWM novel. I didn't even remember that this was a Sofia T. Summers novel until I was scrolling through her novels to find my favorites for this post.

Seal Daddy

This was my first Sofia T. Summers book and I was hooked after reading it, there is a sequel to this novel Fake Married To My Best Friend's Daddy. This one is a Dad's best friend romance.

Doctor Daddy

A wonderful Dad's best friend romance. She writes a lot of those, I love it. This one she hides her identity and then gets pregnant and names one of her triplets after his father, who delivered the triplets and didn't even know they were his!

How To Have Your Boss's Secret Baby by London Casey

I thought this would be keeping the pregnancy secret from the baby's father, but he knew right away, they were just keeping the baby's father secret from everyone else.

After a brief meeting in the elevator,  Maya finds out her new boss Cole isn't the charming man she had first met. After one fateful night she is pregnant with her boss's baby. But, since he is working on a billion dollar deal, he asks her to keep the fact he is the baby's father a secret. He still steps up for her, taking care of her in every way.  Cole falls in love with Maya, but he can't help being a bosshole. Still he can't help falling in love with her. Then comes the day it all blows up in their faces.

I did not like that Cole went out with another woman when he couldn't get Maya out of his head, but at least the author didn't get steamy with the other woman. 

Even so, I rated this book ❤❤❤❤❤

Adrian by Sosie Front

Is this a sports romance? Yes. Is it a friend's to lovers trope? Also yes. This is another hockey romance. It has a dysfunctional team and a captain trying to hold it all together.

Adrian has just recovered from a flying puck to his sensitive area. Clover is his best friend and she has a plan. She wants a baby and she wants Adrian to be the father. Their friendship evolves and they start to fall in love. Only with the passing months Adrian must come to terms with the facts that he may not be able to father children, and he is most definitely in love with his best friend.

It is alluded in this book that Clover is not Caucasian, but it is never clarified what ethnicity (or is it race) she is. I had a hard time picturing her as a person because of this.

Best Curvy Heroines

As a person that has always struggled with my weight, sometimes it is nice to be represented in romance novels. I don't specifically read only curvy girl fiction. However, if the story is good I enjoy that added layer to the story.

Blindsided by Amy Daws

I read this friends to lovers gem last year. I never read anymore books in the series as their synopsis did not appeal to me as much. Freya is a seamstress and amateur fashion designer. Mac is a "footballer" or soccer player as we call then in the United States. I loved that Freya is a cat parent and it really plays a very romantic part in the story.

His Curvy Friend by Mary E. Thompson 

This is another friends to lovers book. But, it is also a best friend's brother romance as well. I didn't like how down on her body Blake is. I get it, I suffer from the same problem, but I like my FMC to have a little more confidence than I have. Ian is a playboy, but only because he can't have the girl he wants. 

Romancing Mr. Bridgerton by Julia Quinn 

I reviewed this book on the blog, already. But, it deserves another mention here. Although Penelope is 12 stone in this book. I Googled it and that is 168 lbs. I don't think that is very overweight really. Just a little extra pounds, I guess. This is a best friend's brother/friends to lovers romance. Colin has a little bit of an anger problem in this book, but I still say that Colin rivals Mr. Darcy for book boyfriends. 

Real Men Love Curves by Kat Baxter 

I loved this friends to lovers novella. Luke and Erin have been in love with each other since high-school but have only ever been friends until Luke decides to give Erin "O" lessons. I actually cried towards the end of this book, it was that good.

Talk Dirty To Me by Ali Parker 

This is a brother's best friend romance.  She is a love guru and he calls into her show all the time, not knowing she is his best friend's little sister. She is a little uncomfortable with her weight, but I didn't feel it over powered the story. She eats donuts and drinks Mountain Dew everyday at work.

My Best Friend's Ex by Meghan Quinn

I know, I know, I literally just read a book by the exact same title. But, man, this is totally not the same book! Meghan Quinn really outdid herself with this book. I ugly cried while reading it. Even as I write this my nose is still running a little. Gross, I know, it's just that good.

Emma was evicted from her place and runs into her best friend's ex who offers her a place to stay. Tucker is still reeling from the loss of a pregnancy and the loss of his ex girlfriend.  But, Emma is a light to his life and soon he finds himself falling into bed with her. Things are going great until his ex comes around and he says something he shouldn't. 

The best friend does not freak out in this book, which is pretty nice to read. I've said ot about brother's best friend novels and it does for all forbidden romance. Sometimes less drama is better.

Good Hands by Kelly Jamieson

Well I found another Hockey accidental pregnancy book. This one is not on Kindle Unlimited. I bought it a couple of weeks ago but ignored it in favor of Kindle Unlimited books.

Brandon and Lola meet on vacation and have a one night stand. Never dreaming they would run into each other at home and then continue a friends with benefits arrangement. As Brandon realizes he is falling in love, he leaves for his Summer home. Meanwhile Lola finds out that she is pregnant. Now the couple needs to face their feelings for each other.

Say it ain't so! This novel mentioned that the NHL may be changing the rule that hockey players have to wear suits to games, and that's the main reason I like to read hockey romance.

Eyes On Me by Sara Cate

I found this book on a mission to find a stepbrother romance. Even though this book did not disappoint at all, the real book I'm excited to read is the next one. It sounds like it is menage romance, I'm in the mood to read that. Alas it does not come out till June 16th.

Garett has been celibate for 10 years. One night while browsing a cam girl app he stumbles across his stepsister, Mia. After an amazing session (during which he hides his identity) he runs to the family lake house to see if they have that chemistry in real life. It turns out they do, but Garett insists they are playing around. Until Mia drops by the sex club Garett owns and gives everyone quite the show.

I am thrilled that there is a hero with mental illness and that he seeks help for his mental illness. As a person that suffers from mental illness, this made the story seem more real to me.
